​Theme Prompts And Suggestions:

​

Consider:

  • the presence of your underlying theme. Is it a subtle expression of a belief tested during the progression of the diary? For example, if the theme is 'integrity first', consider how to subtly sprinkle it through less-than-obvious entries from your actions, dialogue, settings and other characters. Avoid being too heavy handed and pedantic.

  • the target market of your potential story. How might this influence content or style of your entries? If the subject matter limits the size of the promising reading audience, do your entries require refinement for a broader appeal?

  • abuse of power, adversity, aging, appearance versus reality;

  • beating the odds, beauty of simplicity, betrayal, bravery;

  • capitalism and its effect on the individual, celebration, taking a chance, change, change of power needed, change versus tradition, chaos and order, character destruction and building, childhood, circles of life, comfort after death, coming of age, common sense, companionship as salvation, conservation, conspiracy, convention and rebellion, courage and heroism, creation, crime;

  • dangers of ignorance, darkness and light, death – inevitable or tragedy, deception, dedication, democracy, depression, desire to escape, despair, destiny, destruction of beauty, disillusionment and dreams, displacement, dying;

  • earth, economics, effects from the past, emotions, empowerment, emptiness of attaining false dreams, encouraging, everlasting love, evils by humanity, evils of racism;

  • facing darkness, facing reality, fading beauty, failure, faith, faith versus doubt, fame, family – blessing or curse, fate and free will, fear, fear of failure, female roles, feminism, forgiveness, freedom, friendship, fulfillment, funerals, future;
